The fact that Q was staking their authenticity on 8ch tripcodes rather than cryptographically signing their posts means Q is either 1) not technologically savvy and/or 2) working closely with Ron/Jim to keep traffic flowing to 8ch

If they settled on 8ch because they weren't technologically savvy enough to understand how to sign a message, then that really puts a dent in the whole "top level govt clearance" claim. What kind of super spy doesn't understand PGP?

PGP would allow Q to post drops on any site (or even multiple sites simultaneously) and each message could be independently verified by anyone who has Qs public key, negating the need for a single site run by only 2 people to be their sole source of authentication

Give that's been possible for the last 25+ years, why tie your authentication to 8ch, and then double down with "no outside comms"?
There's no real benefit for Q - obviously 8ch is a single point of failure, and has gone down before.

Moving to a new board would require establishing trust with admins as well as finding a way to again - authenticate their identity - with the new board owners. Doing so likely risks revealing their true identity, and how can you be sure the new admins are to be trusted?

You're also trusting that the new board admins have properly secured their infra and application, else you risk info disclosure, like leaking the IP Q posts from, etc.
BTW, all of this was also the case when Q moved from 4ch to 8ch.
