I'm not the type of guy that likes to hype things buuuuut....I have something super interesting dropping in the next hour or two.

[tweet] [link]
WELL I HOPE I DIDN'T PULL A RON WATKINS AND OVERHYPE THIS

[tweet] [link]
I'm regretting the OP. Turns out in-laws need spoken to and dogs need walked. But I'm almost done, I promise!

[tweet] [link]
I was also going to put this on Substack but it turns out writing an article length post is way harder than a Twitter thread.

So I’m just going to tweet it when I get back inside.

[tweet] [link]
JESUS THEN I BROKE THE DAMN THREAD HANG ON A SECOND GOD IM BAD AT THIS

Joe Oltmann's being sued by Eric Coomer for defamation. Oltmann's been claiming since 11/09/2020 that he overheard someone on an "antifa conference call" that was identified as "Eric from Dominion" claim that they would "make f-ing sure" Trump wouldn't win

[tweet] [link]
Oltmann's evidence corroborating this claim has been...hilarious. There's no recording, and no one else has confirmed the call took place.

He's provided 4 pages of handwritten notes, and a screenshot of a Google search that supposedly happened on 9/26

[tweet] [link]
The big news is regarding the screenshot. Oltmann's been claiming that the screenshot is PROOF that the call took place in September, because otherwise, why else would he have searched "eric dominion denver colorado" on 9/26. The only visible date is the filename in the title bar

[tweet] [link]
If you look in the upper left hand corner, you'll see the Google logo. And, as Google does from time-to-time, they've decorated their logo for a special occasion. These are known as "doodles"

[tweet] [link]
Here's the thing: There was no Google doodle on 9/26/2020. It was the plain Google logo. You can confirm this a couple ways:

  1. https://google.com/doodles is an archive of Google doodles
  2. http://archive.org

Here's Google on 9/26 https://web.archive.org/web/20200926101842/https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl

[tweet] [link]
So...what the hell is in the screenshot then?

Well, if you fast forward in the Doodle archive a bit, you'll see that it's a special Doodle specifically commissioned for Veterans Day 2020 - 11/11/2020

[tweet] [link]
This is...not great for Joe! In his deposition - which was under oath - he said: "And the only thing that I can do is get within a few days of the September 26th screenshot, which is when I did the information search related to Eric Dominion, Denver, Colorado."

[tweet] [link]
I'm not a lawyer, but I believe at the very least, that he's perjured himself. And I can't really think of a plausible explanation that's going to help him here.

Did he photoshop the 11/11 Doodle into this 09/26 screenshot because he...liked it? Or did he just straight up lie?

[tweet] [link]
Big whoop, right? But, there are FOURTEEN co-defendants. Because MULTIPLE media outlets took Oltmann's story and ran with it. Did these outlets bother to perform any kind of fact checking? Of course not! They're not commies! They took Joe at his word

[tweet] [link]
And again - this entire story - has been propped up by 3 things:

  1. Oltmann's word
  2. His undated handwritten notes
  3. The screenshot

Because the screenshot says 09/26, and so obviously the only reason he'd search those terms on that day is "antifa conference call"

[tweet] [link]
So...this is the meat of the hype! Hopefully I didn't over hype this. Rest assured, this was the first - and last! - time I will ever hype a post 😂

I'll keep adding context and relevant bits from the depositions to this thread, but that's it! That's the MOAB.

[tweet] [link]
Would love if a lawyer could chime in with what the actual implications of this are, other than perjury. There are a few I'd tag, but it's the holidays.

I can't imagine it's great to submit doctored evidence as part of your defense in a defamation case!

[tweet] [link]
We go live to Joe Oltmann

[tweet] [link]
One more gloaty tweet then I'll stop gloating but...

Imagine being fucked by something called a "doodle".

Like, is the judge going to have to say "Mr. Oltmann, we compared the doodles and determined you were lying"

[tweet] [link]
Update: actual lawyers have chimed in with their opinion, and I was wrong to say he may have perjured himself, but this doesn't seem great!

Thanks @questauthority,@jmumich, @wuttcrack!

For anyone interested in browsing the various case docs yourselves, you can find em here: https://www.courts.state.co.us/Courts/County/Case_Details.cfm?Case_ID=3543

[tweet] [link]
Really surprised and upset I can't trust the anthrax guy...

[tweet] [link]
Oltmann offers an explanation but…I’m confused.

The screenshot is in court docs as being from 9/26. The file name says 9/26. But the doodle is from November.

[tweet] [link]
A more detailed explanation from Joe!

  1. He says I'm a shitbag. He's not wrong!
  2. My only "ties" to @HeidiBeedle are that I respect their work!

Continued..

[tweet] [link]
3. He seems to be saying that if the 9/26 screenshot was from 11/11, the search results would match the actual 11/11 screenshot he submitted. Which...maybe? Google search results can vary even within the same day, depending on different factors.

Continued..

[tweet] [link]
Seems weird that he was randomly taking screenshots in September that he forgot even existed, and those screenshots magically happened to be one of the things that could potentially exonerate him, but sure, let's say that's what happened.

[tweet] [link]
He takes screenshots in Sept...they get transferred to a new computer in Nov. Ok. Cool. None of that is relevant, because all I'm saying is that:

The exhibits have a screenshot labeled 9/26. That screenshot had a Google Doodle from 11/11. So that has to be post 9/26 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

[tweet] [link]
The rest of his post is also irrelevant because again, I'm not referring to when the call may or may not have taken place, or his "infiltration" or Coomers social media, etc.

He shared a "9/26" screenshot with an 11/11 Doodle. That's all I'm saying

[tweet] [link]
Alright, I'm signing off for the night. Good job internet, we did it! If I don't post in 5 days, a right wing death squad got to me (kidding...I hope)

[tweet] [link]
Oltmann addressed this on his show this evening, but his explanation doesn't really make sense. It sounds like he's basically saying he re-ran the search after finding his original query from 9/26 in his Google My Activity dashboard. 1/3

[tweet] [link]
Ok, so if that's the case, it'd certainly explain the Doodle being from 11/11.

But, that also means it's a screenshot from 11/11, and not from 9/26 as stated in both the file name and the title of the screenshot in the paper work. 2/3

[tweet] [link]
At the end of the day, it's still a search from 11/11, when it's supposed to be proof that Oltmann was searching for "eric dominion denver colorado" on 9/26. A screenshot from 11/11 does nothing to establish that. 3/3
